Insurance plans can be very confusing! Call us to see if we take your insurance.

Remember when choosing your insurance plans you have a MEDICAL, DENTAL, and VISION plan. At Crest Optometry we’re currently taking VISION plans and will start taking MEDICAL plans in a few months.

When do you use your vison plan vs. medical plans?

Vision insurance is used when you need your annual check up for your glasses (and contacts) prescription and general eye health (binocularity, focusing, eye pressure, peripheral vision, cornea, pupils, retina, etc). Vision insurance can usually be used once a year.

If a problem (ocular diagnosis) is found on your initial exam then your follow up care with be covered by your MEDICAL insurance. For example: you came in because your vision is a little blurry and wanted to see if your glasses prescription needed updating. During your exam the doctor determined that your blurry vision is partly due to inflammation of your cornea. When you come back for your follow up to see if your corneal has healed your visit can be covered by your medical insurance.

Of course it gets more complicated. Some vision plans have medical benefits and some medical plans have vision benefits.
